What is the difference between a rigid clutch and a pneumatic clutch on a mechanical press?
A rigid clutch engages the flywheel and crankshaft mechanically, completing one full stroke per engagement. A pneumatic clutch uses compressed air to engage and disengage at any point in the stroke cycle — enabling mid-stroke stopping and faster safety response. Required for two-hand anti-tie-down systems and higher-stroke-rate applications.
