A complete Quick Die Change System is not a single device but a coordinated system composed of several functionally complementary components. Below are its core units:
1. Electronic Control Operation Panel
This is the brain and command center of the system. It features a safety interlock with the main press, ensuring all die change operations can only proceed under safe conditions. The panel's logic control prevents misoperation and guides the operator through a standardized changeover process via a visual interface, providing the procedural guarantee for mold changeover time reduction.
2. Die Clamp
This is the core actuator that replaces traditional bolts to achieve rapid die clamping and release. It is mainly divided into two types:
·TY Type (Lever Type): Utilizes the lever principle to achieve powerful clamping directly on the bolster plate via the T-slot, offering fast and labor-saving operation.
·TX Type (Piston Type): Typically hydraulically driven, it provides greater and more uniform clamping force, suitable for heavy dies. Together, they form an efficient T-Slot Clamping System.
3. Die Lifter
The "jack" in die handling. Installed in the T-slot or U-slot of the press bed, it precisely lifts the die a small distance (usually a few millimeters) during changeover, separating it from the bed surface to allow the Bolster Extension Arm to slide it out smoothly. Its power sources mainly include:
·Hydraulic Type: Offers stable, adjustable force and smooth lifting.
·Spring Type: Simple structure, requires no external power, and relies on spring force for lifting.
4. Bolster Extension Arm
The "conveyor belt" for dies. It can be mounted directly on the side of the press bed. When in use, it extends to smoothly pull or push the die onto or off the bed; when not in use, it can be folded or stored away, saving production space. It greatly facilitates die transfer and is a key handling tool in the Automatic Die Setting process.
5. Air Drive Hydraulic Pump Unit
The heart that powers hydraulic Die Clamps and Die Lifters. It converts readily available plant air pressure into hydraulic oil pressure to drive the actuators. Featuring a modular design for quick connection and easy maintenance, it also includes pressure sensing capabilities and can interlock with the main press to ensure reliable pressure and safe operation throughout the changeover process.
Systematically integrating these core components into a stamping production line brings not only an exponential reduction in changeover time but also a comprehensive improvement in production flexibility, safety, and standardization. Enterprises can more readily handle small-batch, high-variety market orders, moving closer to the "Single-Minute Exchange of Die" ideal advocated by Quick Die Change principles, ultimately building a unique competitive edge in response speed and cost efficiency in the fierce market.
