1. Wheelbarrow Product Overview & Global Market Demand
The wheelbarrow is a manual handling tool widely used in construction sites, agriculture, gardening, sanitation, and small engineering projects. The global universal model is the 85L galvanized standard wheelbarrow, covering 80% of overseas market demand.
2. Main Components & Production Process Flow
The wheelbarrow production line consists of four main sections: tub production, frame production, accessory production, and wheel assembly. Core processes include: blanking (laser cutting or shearing) → deep drawing forming → trimming → edge folding → curling → punching → frame bending → parts stamping → welding → surface treatment (hot-dip galvanizing or powder coating) → final assembly.
3. Core Equipment: Hydraulic Press Sizing for Tub Deep Drawing
The wheelbarrow tub is the most critical component, formed by sheet metal deep drawing.
Examples:
Medium construction tub 900×600×0.8mm → approx. 200 tons → recommended 250T hydraulic press
Heavy-duty tub 1000×700×1.2mm → approx. 382 tons → recommended 400T hydraulic press
4. Seven-Step Tub Production Process
Laser Cutting/Shearing Blanking: Cut steel sheet into the expanded blank of the tub (cross-like shape). Laser cutting offers high efficiency and no die cost.
Deep Drawing Forming: Use a drawing die on a hydraulic press to form the flat blank into a three-dimensional tub shape. Drawing oil is applied before forming.
Trimming: Remove excess edge material after drawing to make the tub contour regular.
Edge Folding: Fold the top edge of the tub to a 90° vertical edge to increase strength.
Curling: Use a specialized curling machine to roll the vertical edge inward into a smooth arc, preventing injury and improving appearance.
Edge Rounding: Further round the edge for mounting frame connectors.
Punching Bottom Mounting Holes: Punch 6 mounting holes at the bottom of the tub in one stroke for frame attachment.
5. Frame Production: Automatic CNC Tube Bender
The wheelbarrow frame is typically made of steel tube (20-25mm diameter) bent into shape. A dedicated automatic CNC tube bending machine for wheelbarrows is recommended, which can complete all bending angles (120°-135°) and punching operations in one cycle, offering high efficiency and stable forming.
6. Surface Treatment & Assembly
Hot-Dip Galvanizing: The preferred anti-rust process. Steps: acid pickling → hot-dip zinc → cooling → passivation.
Powder Coating / Painting: Suitable for colored frames or tubs. Steps: degreasing → phosphating → electrostatic spraying → curing/drying (~180°C).
Final Assembly Sequence: Install wheels (with bearings and bushings) → install handle grips → install support legs → tighten all screws.
